Aware of the environment in which we offer our activities, of its beauty but also of its great fragility, we launched an environmental certification process in 2013 and have been certified since 2016. ISO 14001.
The application of this desire is materialized by taking the environment into account in our way of working, monitoring and then reducing our impact, being accompanied by experts in order to refine our issues when we are not not qualified, and to watch over and help our subcontractors when they work on the station.
Our goal is to make this integration a corporate culture so that, little by little, we can pass it on to all the practitioners who come to frequent our wonderful playgrounds and discovery grounds.
From winter 2020, beacons of a new kind are appearing, they signal the proximity of a refuge area for protected species that have been identified on the estate.
We want each of these areas to be identifiable so that everyone can avoid them and then let biodiversity flourish.
This small animal is deliberately imaginary (crossbreeding of different species), its role is to be the flag bearer of all species, without distinction, so as not to encourage research and the gene of a particular species.
We thank you for respecting the tranquility of these areas.
There are two reasons for differentiating species and classifying some of them as protected species:
– The species is threatened (low population, difficulty in reproducing, rare natural environment, etc.)
– The species is an 'umbrella species': Protecting this species and its habitat protects the habitat and the whole ecosystem that is favorable to a large number of other species.
Several protected species of fauna and flora have been identified in the extended geographical area of the ski area.
Indeed, when we plan developments, inventories of fauna and flora are carried out by specialists, thus allowing us to know the animals and plants present and to map the areas where they live. This allows us to adapt our projects to the protection and conservation of this entire ecosystem.
As protected species, we find, for example:
Le Grand Tétras
One of the most discreet and emblematic birds of the Pyrenees, it is present throughout the ski resort of Ax 3 Domaines The capercaillie is currently monitored on our territory by specialists (Mountain Observatory) in order to follow the evolution of the workforce as well as its behavior.
La Chouette de Tengmalm
This nocturnal bird of prey is quite difficult to observe although its "surprised" gaze is one of its characteristics. European protected species. Scientific monitoring is carried out on Ax 3 domains in order to analyze the threats of disappearance of its habitat (coniferous forest).
La Buxbaumie Verte
Its name is a little scary but it is a very rare moss because its habitat is increasingly rare: Old coniferous forest It benefits from national protection and compensatory measures in the event of degradation of its environment .
La Rossolis à feuilles rondes
Carnivorous plants do exist! but they don't eat children like in cartoons. It is a small plant found in wetlands, especially acid bogs. It is protected throughout France.
Other emblematic species (but without protective character) of Ax 3 Domaines:
The most emblematic Species of the Pyrenees with its horns and its black dress in winter. It can be observed throughout the Pyrenees and more particularly in Ariège where it is closely studied in the Orlu National Reserve.
Le Lis des Pyrénées
Magnificent and majestic plant endemic to the Pyrenees and the Massif Central. If you walk in our mountains, you can observe it from the end of May to the beginning of July. Be careful, do not pick it, let it grow quietly...
